About me:
I am originally from Ohio, where I grew up, went to College, became a police officer. It was a good job. I loved my brothers in blue, loved the sense of duty, the service, and the three summers I worked vice were very... enlightening.
Then it happened. The big Marine. Always a sucker for a man in uniform, I was done for as soon as I saw him. It took me a while to realize my fate, but it was set. Once married, I quit my seven year career as a police officer and followed the big Marine to Japan, where I was pregnant within five seconds (it's those Irish genes). Full-time stepmother of two and three more little ones to follow. A victim of the little known traffic violation called the Marine Corps hit and run. He went off to war every year, got me pregnant in between, then would leave again. Ooh-rah.
We lived in Japan, then Purgatory...pardon, I'm mean Washinton DC/NoVa area, North Carolina twice, and the Middle East. Shortly after his retirement, and a move to Colorado, I began writing. The catalyst being a trip to Ireland, during our Bahrain tour. Raven of the Sea started coming to me after a visit to the town of Doolin in County Clare. Just like the big Marine. I saw it, and I was done for. The ever present ache of leaving the sea helped push along the writing mania, finding myself way too far west of the Atlantic. Once I started thinking about it, it nagged at me. Write me.
Then the real fun started. I knew immediately that it was going to be a series. I had O'Briens popping up left and right. The true sign of insanity is when you begin chastising the people in your head. Shut your gob, Liam. Wait your turn. So here we are, and it's been a great journey, so far. I'm working on my eleventh book, have moved back to North Carolina, and am just feeling so damn lucky for all of the readers I've gained over these 4 years.
